Forbidden Fruit

Yesterday
You were like forbidden fruit
Rocked 666’s like nothing was sacred, unveiled the naked truth. We used to sit in the garden, but now sit in suits.

Today
You are like forbidden fruit
State of mind was like: “Two is a unity, alone is a conflict”. Perhaps that’s why I’m missing you.

Tomorrow
You will be like forbidden fruit
We’ll be yet another melodramatic drama, covered up in white lies sloppily jotted down on a piece of grey paper, a saga that just isn’t true.

Yesterday
You looked like forbidden fruit
I tried to float your boat, row it towards the moon, set all our dreams free, but now they’re on the river Itchen, loose.

Today
You are like forbidden fruit
I look at your frame, planting bad ideas like seeds of a love dove ruminating, and remember I used to love kissing you.

Tomorrow
You will be like forbidden fruit
Something from the garden of Eve, out of date, with a new price tag, and something I didn’t do.

Forbidden fruit, forbidden fruit, you’re like some old tape I used to listen to
Forbidden fruit, forbidden fruit, you’re like some old tape I used to listen to
Forbidden fruit, forbidden fruit, look at me, myself and I, still sitting blue
Writing in my diary about how much I’m missing you, it’s a given truth...
